Mike Johnson

Michael Johnson was selected on the second day of the 2009 Major League draft by the New York Mets in the 24th round (734 selection overall), the fourth highest selection.  He became the first player from Concordia University to be drafted since it entered the ASC.   Michael threw 8 1/3 innings for the Brooklyn Cyclones this season posting a 6.48 ERA and recording 2 holds.  He last appeared in a game on July 26 and is currently on the Brooklyn reserve player list.

At Concordia, Michael went 7-2 with a 2.38 ERA and recorded a division- high 109 strikeouts in over 68 innings. His 14.43 strikeouts per nine innings average ranked him third in the nation.  Michael won ASC West Division pitcher and newcomer of the year honors.

In 2008, pitching for San Jacinto Junior College, Michael went 2-0 with a 1.81 ERA in 15 games.  In 44.2 innings that year, he allowed 23 hits, 15 runs, nine earned, 10 walks and 29 strikeouts.

Michael is available for baseball instruction at BreakAway Speed Sports through June 2010.
